There are many differnt things that could be causing your problem. It could be a hardware issue, like your hard drvie. If the hard drive is failing, the computer could be having problems reading the drive durring boot up. It could also be an issue with your power supply, processor, memory or your motherboard. It could also be an issue with a driver or a new piece of software that was loaded. You need to try and first identify where the issue is comming from. The computer should be able to boot into the bios each time. If it does, then this tells us that the motherboard and power supply is good. If it locks up before it gets to the bios or durring the bios, then it is a hardware problem. Now if you have been running your computer in a hot enviroment, you may be a bad processor or it is overheating. If you have installed new memory or have recently moved the computer, the memory stick may not be seated good. Now if it boots up and locks up when windows tries to start, then you may have a hard drive problem or an issue with some software or a driver. If you can provide me with more information, like when the computrer started having problems, did anything happen before then, was the computer moved, was a new program installed, did you add a new piece of hardware, or anything else might help. Also, please let me know how old your computer is, what OS (Windows XP, Vista) you have, the make of the computer, cpu spped if you know, and memory size. This information can also help to see what the problem might be.
