The problem with working on laptops is that they have so many small pieces and are very hard to get to all the parts or to even open up the case. With laptops, it's normally better to send to the manufacturer, specially if it is still under warranty. If the warranty is expired and you are not extremly worried about the computer being totally damaged, only then would I suggest opening up a laptop. Now that I have explained that I'll tell you what you can try. Since you are having a problem issue, the first thing that should have been tested is the power supply. You should have a brick like power supply for the laptop. This is a transformer that converts the 110/220volts AC to 12volts DC. If you have a brick like power supply, then you can take a multimeter and measure the DC volts comming from the end of the cable that plugs into the PC. If this is bad, you should easily be able to find a replacement online. If the power supply is good, then we know the issue is most likely with the computer. Sometimes batteries can cause problems, specially when they have reached the end of their charge cycles. Try removing the battery and connect your power cable to the laptop without the battery. If it boots then it's just your battery that is bad. If not, then you may have a problem with the power cable inside the laptop or the motherboard. If it's just the cable, it may be possible to repair this depending on how it's wired and how bad the damage is. If the motherboard is damaged then you can pretty much forget about the laptop, but you can remove the hard drive and maybe the memory for use on a different system, or you can put the hard drive in an external case to use as an external hard drive. If you need help with any of this, then just let me know.
