This is a tip I found very helpful when my Xbox 360 would turn on but would not display any video. What happened was that the display settings were set to a setting that my TV wouldn't support.

To remedy this:


  • Start the console by pressing the guide button on your controller (First make sure no disc is in the drive.)

  • Press and hold the right trigger and the Y button on the controller.


This action causes the console to reset its display settings to the factory default settings, and restarts the console.
