Cell phones these days are more than just simple phones. They are multimedia devices capable of taking pictures, listening to music, watching videos, scheduling appointments, writing emails and much more. You could say they are little pocket computers and basically they are. The internals of most cell phones have the same type of components a computer has. In fact most recent smart phones are more powerful then computers we had ten years ago and can do so much more. This shows you how fast and far computing has come, but it also can make it more difficult to figure out how to make it work. They all have an operating system, but just not one that we are use to with our laptops and desktop systems. The screens and keypads are much smaller than our laptop and desktop systems as well. This can make it difficult to figure out how to use them, and to find the settings and configuration to set the phone up. What makes it worse is if you don't understand all this computer lingo in the first place, as some of the settings may be in English but they feel like Greek.
This is where I can help you. I can explain to you what the settings are, help you to configure the phone the way you want it, and when it does not work the way you thought it should, help you to figure out what is wrong. The best way to ask me these questions is to start a new thread in the forum. This will allow me to answer your questions, and allow other to see the answer that may help them as well. Computers these days are getting more complicated and so are cell phones. It's ok if you don't understand it all as sometimes I do not either but I know how to find the information and since I have many years of experience with technology, I understand a lot of the techno lingo that you may not. Don't hesitate to ask me for help because I will do my best to provide it to you.
Now sometimes we drop our phones, or sit on them and they break. Sometimes our kids drop them in places they shouldn't or you find that your dog decided to use it as a toy. If it breaks and you want it working again, I may be able to fix it for you. I say maybe because sometimes the cost outweighs the need. I can help you make that determination as well. Most cell phones can be repaired and the cost is usually less than purchasing a new one, unless of course you decide to purchase one of those cheap no frills cell phones. If you have a cheap cell phone that breaks, it usually just easier to buy a new one. Now if you have a newer smart phone like an Android phone, Blackberry, iPhone, or any other newer type smart phone, then it is usually a much better decision to have it fixed instead of buying a new one. One thing you need to be aware of though is that the cost of these phones without being subsidized can be as much as a $1000 and possibly more. You don't see that cost because the overall cost is subsidized by your contract with the cell phone carrier. The reason you need to be aware of this, is because if the phone breaks the parts can be very expensive. I do not buy or sell parts, so I'm not saying this to make a profit. I'm letting you know so when you break your phone, and you ask me or someone else to fix it, that it is very possible you may pay a few hundred dollars for repairs. The cost can also be as low as a few bucks depending on exactly what part is needed for repairs. Regardless, I'm here to help you figure out what the best way is to get your cell phone working again and to help you get it back to using it the way you want.
All this is provided for free to the KMC community except for parts. I will fix your phone for free as well provided that you purchase the parts.
